World War II veteran Guy Prestia fought across Europe as a gunner in the U.S. Army's 45th Infantry Division . Mr. Prestia saw heavy combat during the Italian campaign in Sicily, Salerno, Cassino and Anzio, then pushed into France and into Germany. His division suffered 63,000 casualties and at the end liberated Dachau, the first concentration camp established by the Nazi regime, on April 29, 1945. ©Nate Guidry
